Power and AFL Announce 2012 Season Schedule

The Arena Football League, celebrating their 25th season, today released its 2012 schedule, which has the Pittsburgh Power opening on the road at Orlando, which will be aired nationally on the NFL Network, where they hope to exact revenge for last season’s playoff hope-damaging loss to the Predators. The March 23 home opener, also to air on NFL Network, pits the Power against the in-state rival Philadelphia Soul. April finds the Power hosting Orlando, the Iowa Barnstormers, and the Cleveland Gladiators, which visits CONSOL April 28th.  Division foe Milwaukee comes to Pittsburgh June 16th.  Other visitors include the Georgia Force, the Kansas City Command and the Tampa Bay Storm. The Power’s regular season concludes on July 20th as they host the defending Arena Bowl champion Jacksonville Sharks, also to be aired on the NFL Network.

Divisional road matchups include road trips to Cleveland June 8th and Philadelphia June 24th.  The Power travels to the AFL’s newest city, San Antonio, as well as to Milwaukee, New Orleans, Iowa, and Georgia.

“We drew a bunch of return matchups and teams we faced last year so there will be more of a familiarity factor for coaches and players this year,” said coach Chris Siegfried.  “This will really test our ability to continue to improve as the season progresses”.  Owner and general manager Matt Shaner added, “Getting our schedule finalized is always an exciting day for us and our fans, but regardless of our schedule, the goals remain the same – play competitive and entertaining football, make the play-offs, and to appreciate the support we get from the great fans of the Power.”
