Power Pleased with Open Tryout Results
While the rest of Pittsburgh’s football community celebrated a bye week, the Power was busy hosting their second open player tryout for their 2012 team this past Sunday. In excess of 40 athletes, from former NCAA Division One starters to former college walk-ons, showed up at Southpointe Fieldhouse to showcase their talents to the Power coaching staff. “The tryout was a success,” remarked head coach Chris Siegfried. “We have found at least one player from each tryout camp that we have conducted.” Coach Siegfried was reluctant to name the player he planned to offer a contract to, in fears that other AFL teams may steal his ‘diamond in the rough’. He did hint however, that with this most recent offer he is hoping to round out what is an already impressive receiving core.
The Power is aggressively building their roster this off-season, with the single goal of bringing home the Arena Bowl championship. With the signings of MVP Quarterback Kyle Rowley and 2011 AFL Ironman of the Year PJ Berry, the Power are positioning themselves as a strong contender and a deep post-season threat in 2012.
