Mullen’s was the place to be this past Saturday night, as throngs of supporters came out to witness the unveiling of the 2012 SPARKS Dance Team.  Eighteen finalists battled it out for over an hour before the judges took almost equally as long to select the team. Power co-owner, NFL hall of famer Lynn Swann and Sparks dance coach Jennelle Johnson analyzed the auditions they had just witnessed with fellow judges Calvin Jackson, a Power executive, former Miss Teen Pennsylvania Elena LaQuatra, and Singer/Songwriter Ambition, to cast their votes and select the final fourteen.

Eight dancers from the inaugural 2011 Sparks are returning for the 2012 season and six new members were added to the team.  “I was really pleased with the turnout for the evening,” remarked Power Co-Owner Lynn Swann. “The girls all did a great job and the fans were really supportive.” “It was like each girl had their own cheering section,” added Sparks dance coach Jennelle Johnson. “The Sparks are going to be even hotter than last year. I’m really excited about the girls that tried out and the girls that we chose for the team.”

The SPARKS are the premier dance team for the Pittsburgh Power and perform at each of the nine home games as well as community appearances throughout the city of Pittsburgh.

Join the Pittsburgh Power December 1st at Mullen’s on the South Side for open auditions for starring roles in their television and online advertising campaign promoting their 2012 season. The auditions will be held at Mullen’s on Carson on Pittsburgh’s South Side on December 1st starting at 2:00pm. Everyone who participates will receive a pair of tickets to a 2012 Power home game at CONSOL Energy Arena.

Production of the final commercials and videos is scheduled to begin in January 2012.

Registration begins at 11:00am the day of the auditions. Pre-register online go to pittsburghpowerfootball.com.  There is no fee to audition.
