Getting to Know Beau Elliott

(Pittsburgh, Feb. 13th, 2012)

With Power training camp starting in two days, the Power media relation staff had the opportunity to chat with Pittsburgh native and AFL veteran, offensive lineman Beau Elliott.

Q: How does it feel to be playing back in Pittsburgh and at CONSOL Energy Center? Are your friends and family excited for this?

Elliott: It’s a new and different feeling to be home in Pittsburgh. I’ve played at IUP but this certainly has a different feel to it. For the last three years everything associated with arena football for me has been in Chicago, away from family and friends. Everyone is as excited as I am for the season to start.

Q: You have made a big name for yourself locally, both with Highlands and at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. How do you plan to top all of that while playing back in Pittsburgh with the Power?

Elliott: Win a championship. I have been to one championship game losing on the final play of the game and I still at times get bitter about it. In my eyes there is nothing that can top a champion.

Q: Do you know many of your new teammates or played against them?

Elliott: A few I’ve played against. Tyre Young and I have been teammates at IUP and Wilkes-Barre in the Af2 in 2006.

Q: From what you know of your new team and your experience in the AFL, what do you expect for this season?

Elliott: I always go into a season expecting to win. I have great hopes and confidence in the team coach Siegfried and staff has put together. I can only hope to do my part and contribute to having a winning season.

Q: You’ve worked with Line Coach John Sikora before, how much of a factor was that in your decision to join the Power?

Elliott: Before I made my decision I already had a respect for John as a teammate and friend. He played a role in my progression as a player when I was a rookie. I look forward to working with him now as a coach.

Q: You have accomplished some of the highest acclaims in the AFL, have you had contact from other leagues?

Elliott: Before entering the arena football league I participated in some pro-days, but nothing substantial.

Q: Personally and for the team, what will you consider a successful year?

Elliott: Personally for me the post-season accolades are worthless if you’re watching the playoffs and championship on TV at home. If we win a championship we all share success and to me there would be nothing better.
